Events: San Diego de Alcala Music Ministry Sportsfest 2010
It was Summer in 2009 when we had the very first Music Ministry sportsfest. And just like last year, the same aura of excitement was seen in the faces of the participants. Only, this year there were more participants, our venue was covered, the food was a little more heavy and the games became more challenging. The half-day activity was a good way to detox, have fun, and gain more friends in the parish that we all serve.
Kudos to the organizing committee – another job well done!

Working Mom
Shots of my wife while she is working at home.
By the way, i was experimenting a two light off-camera flash setup with these shots using my two Canon Speedlite flash guns with RF-602 triggers and umbrellas. My main light, a 580EX II
with a shoot through umbrella placed 45 degrees on her left side and a 430EX II
as my kicker light with a bounce umbrella on her right side.
Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM

Why you need a Telephoto Zoom Lens
This youtube video shows us the importance of having a telephoto
lens or the zoom capability of your digital camera
particulary for this wildlife photography as we don't need to get really close to these wild animals just to get a decent shot.
To my fellow photographers, be cautious and make sure you are on a safest zone when taking your shots. Way too much risk will put you on the threat of danger or you may even lose your life. Better be safe than sorry!

Binondo Photowalk
My 23Shutters photo buddies went on a photowalk last saturday in Binondo, Manila. A place well-known for being populated mostly by Filipino-Chinese communities. Binondo is located across the Pasig River from Intramuros and the home of Chinatown in Manila. The district is the center of commerce and trade for all types of businesses run by Filipino-Chinese merchants.
Some places of interest in Binondo are Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, Binondo Church and the Chinatown.
Binondo is one of the frequently visited place in Manila not only by local and foreign tourist but photographers as well because of its rich heritage that showcases the old Manila with the touch of spanish and chinese legacy combined.

Events: Kristianne at 18
I was invited to be a backup photographer for FPPF photographer friends Gino, Warren and Jo (as the latter being the events coordinator too who did a really great job on spearheading the event). This event marked as my first time to cover in which i am part of the team.
The lovely lady Kristianne (nicknamed Yayan) turned 18 last Jan 31, 2009 and her adulthood was warmly welcomed by her family, relatives and friends. She have a very nice set of eyes and smile that on every shot i took is priceless indeed. Did i mention that she has a mix resemblance of Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador? Take my word for it.

Mobile Phone
I took a couple of shots of my trusty mobile phone and it is a Nokia N73
which is one of my workhorse gadget. I bought this with a hefty price because it was Nokia's flagship phone back then and acquiring this was not actually planned but i was forced to replace it the same day i lost my four-month old Nokia N70 and dwelling on its loss is unacceptable. I had to buy myself a replacement
!
With this day and age, i realized that my phone is no longer at par with the latest mobile phones in the market and with its now sluggish processor even if the phone and the card memory is not even at half-full, the phone crawls and it starts to annoy me. All the more, this phone uses a MiniSD
flash card and only 2GB is the maximum capacity available in stores. I am limited in storing music, photos, videos, games and other mobile applications. But still, i love this phone, its been with me for almost four years already and for me it already served its purpose but i might still keep it as a reserve.

I have these set from our FPPF advanced photography class last year. I was determined to make it to the Top 5, but competition was so tight I missed the 5th place by just 0.02%. Nonetheless, I was proud of my output, that's why I wanted to share them with you. Here are my shots, hope you like them!

Kids Photography
Jan 22 was quite an emotional day for us because that day when my sister and her family (Lanie, Aris, Arissa and Schierra) flew back to US after their almost 2 months vacation (almost a month with Aris as he arrived last Dec 31) here with us. Those 2 months are so fast it was just like only a couple of weeks for us.
The day (friday) of their flight is also the day of the number-coding scheme for our cars so this is an added pressure for us to beat the 3PM window to NAIA and we managed to arrived the airport 15 mins after 3PM. Although we are a bit earlier for their 7PM flight but that eventually gave us extra time to spend it with them at the airport's parking lot and i even took the opportunity to take some pictures with them.
Tears began to fall when we reached the departure parking area and bid our bon voyage to them. I even tried to control my tears as much as i could but i could not help but to let them flow. But still we are happy to know that they will go back next year during the summer of 2011. We will miss them a lot! And for the mean time we will just stick to using FB, YM, Lefora (our personal photography forum), and the ever reliable phone calls to communicate with them.
Here are some snaps of my lovely niece Arissa while we are waiting for their flight back to US.

Portraiture: CPC shoot with Corie
This is the first activity of CPC this year, a lecture in portraiture and a model shoot. It was a success as we had a total of 21 shooters that night. By the way the lecture part was done by Jericho Montemayor (club's 2010 president).

Portraiture: CPC shoot
I did a photoshoot last year with CPC, the session almost fold-up since our original model recruits cancelled their commitments at the last minute. Luckily, one of our CPC member Junn (i usually call him "master Junn G") got a replacement before we decided to call it the day. Here are some of my shots on our photoshoot! Hope you like them.
